If You Give A Cat A Cupcake

This is a story about a cat that gets a cupcake.  When he gets a cupcake he wants sprinkles to go on it.  The cat makes a mess with the sprinkles which makes him hot and the journey begins.  His owner takes him to the beach and things at the beach remind him of other things which leads to other things which eventually leads him back to the sprinkles on a cupcake.
 
Caps For Sale

This story is about a peddler who sells different colored hats.  The man wears all of them on his hat as he walks slowly through town.  One day no one wanted to buy hats.  The man was tired and decided to take a nap.  When he woke up he discovered his hats were missing.  To his surprise monkeys in a tree were wearing his hats.  He tried shaking his fingers at them to get the monkeys to give his hats back.  This was a case of monkey see monkey do because after several finger shakings the peddler through down his own hat and so did the monkeys.
 
Corduroy

This story is about a toy bear who lives in a department store waiting for a child to take him home.  A little girl sees Corduroy and wants to buy him, but her mom says no because he looks used and is missing a button.  Later that evening Corduroy searches the store for his button.  He finds one on a mattress, but when he tries to take it off Corduroy falls off the bed and makes a loud crash.  The night watchman finds the bear and places him back on the shelf.  The next day the little girl comes back to buy Corduroy.  When they get home she sows a button on Corduroy.  Corduroy knows he finally has a real home.
 
Drummer Hoff

This is a folk verse about a building of a cannon.  One by one a soldier comes to add another piece to a canon.  Once the canon is all put together Drummer Hoff fires is off.

The Storytelling Princess

This is a story about a Prince who had an arranged marriage.  The King said it was time to marry, but the Prince said he would only marry the girl who told him an ending to a story he had never heard before.  In a distant kingdom a Princess was told it was time to marry the man she was arranged with.  She didn't want to marry anyone.  Nontheless, she and her parents set sail to the another kingdom.  A storm hits and the Princess is washed ashore.  She ends up finding dry sailor clothes and tells the story to the Prince.  It was actually her true story in which the Prince had never heard the ending.  And they lived happily ever after.
 
Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?

This is a repetitious picture book about different animals and what they see.  In the end the mama bear sees all the animals and baby bear looking at her.
 
Detective Dinosaur Lost and Found

This is a short chapter book with three different stories.  The first one tells about Detective Dinosaur and Officer Pterodactyl finding baby Penny, a missing baby apatosaurus.  The second story is about Detective Dinosaur and Officer Pterodactyl finding the owner for a little kitten.  The third story is about how Detective Dinosaur gets lost himself.  He knows what it is like to feel alone and scared.  All ends well though for baby Penny, the little kitten, and Detective Dinosaur.
 
An Elm Tree and Three Sisters

This story was about three sisters who lived on a big farm.  Because their land was so big it felt bare.  The three sisters set out one day to find a tree to plant in their yard.  They found a little Elm tree along the river and carefully dug it up and planted it in their yard.  The tree grew through many milestones in the girls lives.  Until one day the tree got a disease and it had to be chopped down.  The girls were very sad.  However, the grandchildren gave the sisters a wonderful gift.  They planted another elm tree.
 
How Georgie Radbourn Saved Baseball

This is a story about a young baseball player named Boss Swaggert who was in a bad slump.  He struck out at a crucial point in the game and he was so angry he vowed to never play baseball again.  The next few years he worked very hard to become rich.  He bought all the radio stations and newpapers in order to control the talk about baseball.  He became so powerful that he banned baseball and had factories built where baseball fields once were.  Winters stretched out year round.  When Georgie Radbourn was born ironically all that came out of his mouth were baseball sayings.  Georgie was put on trial for these sayings.  Georgie proposed a contest between himself and Boss Swaggert.  A game of baseball - if Georgie could strike him out he would go free and baseball would be restored.  Of course Georgie struck Boss out and that is how he saved baseball.
 
Madlenka's Dog

This is a story about a little gril named Madlenka.  She wanted a dog so much that she pretends she has a dog.  Taking it on a walk she introduces her dog to several people on the street.  She finds a friend that has an imaginary horse as well.  They play together until it is time to go home.
 
Julio's Majic

Julio is a boy who lives in a small village.  They don't have much.  One day he is excited to find some wood for carving.  His good friend Iluminado taught him how to carve.  Julio wanted to enter a wood carving contest to win money.  His friend Iluminado was getting old and his sight was going as well.  Julio noticed that Iluminado's crops were poor as well.  He convinced his friend to enter the wood carving contest too.  It turns out that Iluminado ends up winning the much needed money.  Julio never sent his carvings in that year.

Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type

This is a story about cows that type.  The farmer goes to the barn to see them.  When he gets to the barn he finds a note from the cows asking for electric blankets.  He tells them no and they refuse to give him milk.  Then the cows leave another note asking for electric blankets for the hens.  The farmer again refuses and the hens refuse to lay eggs.  The farmer types a note demanding they give him milk and eggs.  A duck delivers the note as he is the neutral party.  After much deliberation the cows type the farmer a note that says they will give him the typewritter in exchange for electric blankets.  The cows received the blankets, but the farmer never received the typewritter because it was supposed to be delivered by the ducks.  However, they were too busy typing.
 
Curious George and the Hot Air Balloon

Curious George goes on a vacation to see Mount Rushmore with the man in the yellow hat.  When they go to see the hot air balloon race, George ends up jumping in one balloon and it takes off.  George had no idea how he is going to get down.  The hot air balloon ends up going near Mount Rushmore and there is a man stuck on one of the Presidents face.  The balloon gets close enough for the worker to climb in.  All ends well - the worker is saved and Curious George gets to the ground safely as well.
 
Good Night Gorilla

While locking up the zoo for the night, a guard says good night to gorilla.  As the guard passes the cage the gorilla grabs the guards keys.  He unlocks himself and quietly follows the guard.  As the guard says good night to the other animals the gorilla unlocks their cages.  The guard goes home and goes to bed.  His wife says, "Good night dear" and one by one the animals say, "Good night" back to her.  She turns on the light and takes the animals back to the zoo.  When she goes to sleep somehow the gorilla ends up back in the bed.
 
Come Along Daisy!

One day Daisy and her mama are swimming.  Mama duck continuously calls for Daisy to come along.  However, Daisy is curious and goes exploring other things.  Mama and Daisy get separated and Daisy gets scared.  Daisy finally reunites with mama duck.  Daisy continues to explore, but this time she makes sure to stay close to mama duck.
 
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

This was a silly book.  On the first page the bus driver asks the reader (that's me) not to let the pigeon drive the bus.  He said he would be right back.  In the mean time the pigeon is talking to me, actually begging me to let him drive the bus.  Just when you think the pigeon is going to loose his feathers the bus driver returns and makes sure that I didn't let the pigeon drive the bus. 
 
Froggy Goes To Bed

Froggy's mother says it is time for bed, but Froggy says he is not tired.  She tells Froggy to take a bath, but first he needs to find his boat.  Everytime Froggy's mother says to do something Froggy always has something to do first.  When Froggy's mother finally gets him into bed, he needs a drink of water, it spills.  Then he wants a story read to him.  Froggy's mother is so exhausted from trying to put Froggy to sleep that she ends up falling asleep during the story.  Froggy kisses his mother good night and goes to sleep.
 
Night at the Fair

Some kids go to the fair at night.  The enjoy all the food there is to eat, the games they can play, and the rides they can ride on.  Their most favorite ride is the Ferris Wheel.  It takes them up high so that they can see where they have been and where they can still go.
 
Officer Buckle and Gloria

Officer Buckle went to the schools giving speeches on safety.  No one ever listen and they would fall asleep.  One day the department bought a dog named Gloria.  One day Officer Buckle had to give his speech to a school.  While he talked about safety Gloria was doing tricks behind him.  The audience applauded and Officer Buckle thought they were excited about his safety speeches.  One day he was watching the news which happened to film the speech.  Officer Buckle saw that the students were only excited about Gloria.  So for the next speech he had someone else drive Gloria to the school to do the speech, but it wasn't the same.  The students wanted Officer Buckle and Gloria together because they made such a great team.
 
Morris The Moose

Morris the moose is determined to prove that a cow is really a moose.  However when he asks a deer and a horse to tell the cow he is a moose the deer tells Morris they are deer, and the horse tells them all they are horses.  Finally they come to a stream and looking at their reflection they decide they are all different animals.
 
Sunny The Greedy Goat

Sunny is a goat that loves to eat.  When his owner feeds Sunny he makes sure to give him a little bit.  Well one day Sunny's owner leaves the barn door open.  Sunny has hit the jackpot - he eats and eats and eats.  Sunny was so sick that he couldn't eat for three days.  Sunny definitely learned his lesson.

Fantasy
The Umbrella

This is a story about a boy named Carlos who goes out into the cloud forest with his green leaf umbrella.  He sets his umbrella down to go and look for animals by climbing up a tree.  Some water drips into the umbrella making a great spot for a tree frog.  Soon more animals come and invade the umbrella and frog tells them to leave.  The animals all like this spot in the umbrella.  Before long after squabbling because it is crowded the umbrella sinks in the water and the animals fall out.  Carlos climbs down without seeing any animals.
 
Pinkalicious

This is a story about a little girl who bakes cupcakes with her mom because it is raining outside.  When her mother asks her what color she would like the cupcakes to be the little girl replies, "PINK!"  The little girl eats so many pink cupcakes that she actually turns pink!
 
Thumbelina

This was a story about a girl who was as big as a thumb.  She was stolen from her home by an ugly toad who wanted Thumbelina to marry her toad son.  She escapes and has many adventures among other animals.  A field mouse had taken her in and was forcing her to marry a mole.  A swallow helps her escape and takes her to the land of the flower people where she married a King and lived happily ever after.

This is a story about a Princess who kissed a frog and turned him into a Prince so they could live happily ever after.  However, they were both miserable.  This Princess gave the prince the idea that if he were still a frog things would be much better.  So the Frog Prince set out to find a witch to turn him back into a frog, but his plan backfired.  He mets up with a Fairy Godmother who turns him into a Frog Prince carriage, but at midnight he turns back into his Frog Prince self.  He goes home late and the Princess is worried about him and he is happy to see her.  They kiss and both turn into frogs and live happily ever after.

This was a story of a poor little girl who was sent out in New York's frigid winter to sell matches and artificial flowers.  She walked all day and didn't sell anything.  She found a corner that seemed to block the wind.  She decided to light a match and soon envisioned a burning stove that warmed her.  As she kept lighting matches she would have visions of food, and a Christmas tree, and soon her sick grandmother.  However in her vision her grandmother was healthy.  The little girl begs her grandmother to take her with her to heaven, and she does.
